Fast moving averages crossover strategy

Indicators :  10 EMA, 25 EMA, and 50 EMA

Time Frame :  1 hour or 15 minute charts

Entry :  When 10 EMA goes through 25 EMA and continues through 50 EMA, buy/sell in the direction of 10 EMA once it clearly makes it through 50 EMA.  Wait for current price bar to close on the opposite side of 50 EMA.

Exit :  Exit when 10 EMA crosses 25 EMA again.

Have you had much success with this regarding your percentage of winners > losers? I tried this for a while and got a couple big winners, but mostly losers with a few small winners mixed in.

tervorta, of course you loss. if you're going to use an mva cross, in my observation, you must approach it differently...

go back historically, find the at least 20 examples of an mva cross. take snapshots of each. next flip through the different crosses, what do you notice?

- how many times did the price actually move at the point of the cross?

when using an mva cross, you must only take the most predictable of entry (i.e., highest probability). if you focus on those few trades, you will no doubt see a change in your results.

most of the time, it is an early price movement that pulls the faster mva across the slower mva.

key point, understand that the mva is determined by the price, not the other way around. without price there is no mva.

focus on understanding the price cycle, be selective in your entries and then you have a much greater success.
