The New Thin Client to Replace Alveo

Since Shawn Lucas's announcement in January 2018 that a new "thin" client was going to be developed to "replace" Alveo, I have had a lot of questions.

- Has development begun? (My thoughts: probably).

- What computer language will the new client be developed in? (Java? JavaScript? Enquiring minds want to know, and perhaps prepare to write new indicators!)

- When will Alveo be phased out? (2020? Or perhaps, "Let's see when traders stop using Alveo!" If the new client is a success, most traders will change to it for obvious reasons, such as, "it's easier!" or "So glad!" or "Now I can trade on my phone/Mac/other hardware").

- When will a beta version be available for Bees to "kick the tires"?

- How will Bees be able to add scripts to the new client?

- Will the new client allow a Bee to trade simultaneously in their account and a demo account?

- Will a trader be able to have two clients open at the same time?

Does anyone have other questions?

Does anyone have answers to the above questions?

Thanks to all!

Where was the announcement made?

All, I sent an email to Support at Apiary, asking some questions about the new thin client that Apiary will develop for us. It is called a "thin" client because it will run in a browser and thus require fewer resources from your computer (and hopefully run in the browser that your hardware uses, be it your mobile phone, your Mac, your PC or your Linux computer - in other words, remove the hassle).

I am thankful for Support and their answers to my questions. We will hopefully learn more as development moves "farther down the road".

Hello Mark,

We have started the bones of the web version along with mobilizing some of the server side of it. As for the full trading side, we are testing a few aspects to code off of. Java and Javascript will both be used (We're not sure which where yet. That will depend on which software we decide on.) As for Alveo, we will probably end up keeping (it) for a little while once we launch the web version so people can have a period to switch back and forth to something they're more comfortable with for a bit.

Hopefully, we will have a Beta for our traders. Development will have an in-house Beta, and it's up to dev how many they want to dd on. They'll know more closer to the release. The two clients and two accounts will depend on which program they use as a base as well.

I'm sorry we don't have more information at this time, yet as it comes to us from development, we will try to announce it on our lives.

****** Again, many thanks to Luke @ Support!
