Windows Auto restart!

Hi Everyone!  Though I pride myself for usually finding computer solutions on my own, I am at my wit's end with the windows 10 auto-restart feature!  I want to wake up in the morning with the computer right where i left it.

Quickly polling members - do you, a) fork out the cash for windows 10 pro to turn off the feature?  b) get a mac.  c) you are a magical computer whiz who has conjured the cure in your  EEPROM culdron.

Let me know!

Have you checked hibernate?

Hi nick,

Try this.

In Windows Update, click on change settings. Under Important Updates, select 'Download updates but let me choose whether to install them'. This will give you the control to when to install and restart if required.

Hi Nick,

Did you choose "Notify to schedule restart" under Advanced Options?

Hi Nick,

Try one more step.

Select Settings. Select Network & Internet. Click Advanced options at the bottom of the list of Wi-Fi networks. Move the Set as a metered connection slider to on.

Yes, hibernate is the sleep/wake function for laptops. In your Windows settings, you can configure how you'd like for hibernate to behave.

I personally only want my laptop to sleep ONLY whenever I close it--not when there's been no activity on my laptop for X seconds/minutes/hours. So I configure my hibernate settings accordingly. I also configure my HD settings to not spin down, and I configure my display settings to go black, whenever there's been no activity on my laptop for X seconds/minutes/hours.

I spent almost $300 on Office 2013 bundle. I installed Windows 10 for about 20 seconds, 10 does not recognize any of it's own Office products they want you to spend more money. Therefore, I use no Windows 10 and probably never will.
